Hope in Materials

An exhibition exploring the sacred and the mundane through printmaking, assemblage, and object play

Together with artist Maya Jain, I spent a month in Tunis as an artist-in-residence at DAR MESO and collaborating with the co-design practice El Warcha. Our intention was to exchange with Tunisian artists and cultural workers, engage local communities, and advance our professional practice through the production and dissemination of a small body of work.

This culminated in an exhibition held at DAR MESO on June 27th, 2024.

alter-economics

Reflections on economics were integrated into the exhibition statement and the participatory performance To hold it briefly, then pass it on.

re-enchantment

We approached our time in Tunisia with wonder, and used cultural relationships to materials (such as utilitarian objects, waste, or charms) to talk about enchantment.
